Check out this video of the park session, put together by WinchMaster OMJ

Dewey’s Rail Park Session

Most of us are sun worshippers. When it’s raining and the wind is blowing, the lakes are not in the best condition. When a storm comes, with any chance of magnitude, most are tying down yard furniture and closing windows. I choose to use my time building rails, just for the opportunity that arises about once a year. Multiple parks around the valley will get backed up, and flood. This begins the park session.

With the help of many riders in the area, I recieved about 10 calls from different people about the possible ride venue. After dialing up a few choice riders on my speed dial, and checking out the park for myself, I knew it was on.

Just after finishing the rail Thursday morning, the clouds started to clear and the sun came out. It had rained all day and night Tuesday, and it was a dreary day Wednesday. We threw the newly created rail, The Pulldozer Winch, our plastic folding table of a starting dock, and a few wakeboards in the truck and headed over. It was a simple 16 foot flat bar which we raised about a foot and a half out of the water.

The session took off fast with some mad skills from Marc Glover and Colton Brockbank. Soon after Kevin “Ice” Allphin and myself joined in, with WinchMaster OMJ and James Kleinschnitz. Apparently word of awesomeness travels fast, none other that the Vegas dwelling Brother Allphin, Jeremy and Nian, graced us with their presence. Being the riders that we are, we were not satisfied with a simple rail jam. We started to jib our table. Jeremy Allphin and Marc Glover even made the huge ollie, of about 4 1/2 feet, over the table after standing it up on end. When that wasn’t enough, J. Allphin jumped on the back of the table and gave it a ride across the fresh pond.

In the end, everyone had a good time, nobody got hurt, and the nobody kicked us out. If it starts to rain and puddles grow big enough to ride, make sure to look for Dewey’s Rail, and the WakeUtah crew.

If you know of a possible winch site feel free to contact, email (dewey@deweysrail.com) or call me anytime so we can set up a session. (801) 706-6820

The wakeboarding scene here in Utah is blowing up. There are several lakes, plenty of canals, a few hidden winch spots, but only one, legit, rail set-up. This is known as Dewey’s Rail. Dewey’s Rail is made up of two man made pools, with a 40 foot rail slapped in between. The rail has a few different options, a down to flat, and a flat to down. Along with these selections is countless amounts of variations that can be changed at a moments notice. Dewey’s Rail provides our huge network of Utah riders a new experience that can not be found anywhere in our state and surrounding areas.

With Dewey’s Rail we wanted to put something together that everyone can come out and have a good time, while not having to worry about the logistics. Dewey’s Rail is mellow enough for the beginner, yet challenging enough to give the veterans a good session. This slider is the very same that has been hit by some of the best wakeboarders and wakeskaters in the world at the 2008 Utah Boat Show.

A mass majority of Utah wakeboarders have never hit a rail like this, let alone behind a winch. Dewey’s Rail is an exciting new way to pull the scene together, ride something unique, and have a good time.

This year at Dewey’s Rail we are having planned events, competitions, and meet ups, at least once a week, for almost every week of the summer. Dewey’s Rail is affiliated with WakeUtah.com which will spread the word to all Utah wakeboarders information on events and session days. Dewey’s Rail has been in various media outlets both locally and nationally. Including a recent story in the latest Wakeboarding Magazine (June ‘08) pages 84 and 85.

Thank you taking the time to check out and visit Dewey’s Rail. I look forward to seeing you all at the rail. Free free to contact me anytime for any information, or sponsorship opportunities. (801) 706-6820.
